For many, Halloween is one of the best holidays of the year. We get to become children again: dressing up in costumes, going to parties, watching scary movies, and eating way too much candy. The most enthusiastic of us also elaborately decorate our homes, creating haunting scenes and terrifying little trick-or-treaters.
While there are many areas of your property that you can decorate, do not forget your wood fence. Here are a few creative and spooky Halloween fence decorating ideas to get you started.
1. Hanging Decorations – Many of the decorations designed to be hung in or on your home will work great to decorate your wood fence: pumpkins, skulls, bats, spiders, and more. Also, draping cheesecloth can create a spooky webbing. However, don’t use stickers that can damage your wood fence.
2. Hidy-ho Neighbor – Do you remember Wilson from the old Home Improvement television show.? It is a little creepy to have a neighbor peering over your fence. Yet, it is even spookier when it is a dark figure, skeleton, or witch. There is nothing quite as unsettling as the feeling of being watched. Don’t you agree?
3. Prowling Black Cat – Black cats are often associated with Halloween. Moreover, cats are known to walk across fences. But, your fluffy friend will likely not be willing to sit atop you fence all night. So, you will have to find a fake cat from a Halloween store. Regardless, those piercing eyes will be a nice addition to your Halloween decorations.
4. Cemetery Entrance – A gated wood fence creates a possibility for a spooky Halloween decoration. Simply adding a sign that states “Cemetery” with some fake webs will create an eerie and ominous entrance and atmosphere. Add a few graveyard props to your front lawn, and you have created a scene right out of a horror movie.
